Games

The Aïkiou bowl can also be used as an interactive game involving the entire family. Children love to play with the family dog and the Aïkiou, hiding small treats in the different compartments and asking the dog to find them. Every family member can take a turn hiding a reward or food. These interactive games will strengthen the bond between the pet and its family.

IMPORTANT: In order to avoid creating anxiety in your pet, we recommend that you not use punishment during interactive dog games. If you ask your pet to sit and he is too excited to do so, wait until he is calm before letting him search. If your dog does not listen and is too excited, you should perhaps burn some of his energy with a little physical activity. Take him for a walk or a run and then try again. If you still cannot get your animal to cooperate, ask a canine behaviouralist that uses positive reinforcement to help. The behaviouralist can teach you how to interact with your pet in order to get him to listen out of pleasure and respect rather than fear.

The game has to be fun for everyone. If conflicts arise, stop and try again later or ask a professional for help. If your dog listens well, you can ask him to SIT, hide a piece of food in the Aïkiou and then say OK when you want to let him search. When he finds the reward, ask him to LIE DOWN, hide another piece of food and then say OK when you want to let him search. And so on... Intellectual games require a great deal of concentration and tire the animal more quickly.

If you see that your dog is distracted, we recommend that you stop the game and try later or another day. The game must not become a chore, it should stay fun for everyone! You can even hold contests with your friends to see whose dog finds the treat first.

Wishing you and your dog tons of fun with the Aïkiou!
