Encourages your pet to eat more slowly !
The Aïkiou has compartments in which you can hide the food of animal. This will keep your animal busy during mealtimes, turning the wheel and opening several sliding doors to access the food hidden below.
This system adds a brain stimulating component to feeding, slowing down the rate at which food is ingested and thus reducing digestion problems.
Dr Philipe Pierson, veterinary
Dogs need to be fed in a quiet area free from all competition so that they can take their time to chew properly instead of wolfing down their food. The speed at which food is ingested directly correlates with the time it takes to digest. The more quickly a meal is ingested, the more likely the stomach will become overloaded and the greater the risk of accelerated transit, leading to digestive problems likes borborygmi (1), flatulence (2), dilation of the stomach (3) or overconsumption-related diarrhea.
In dogs, it takes about 10 minutes from the start of the meal for the brain to pick up the signal that the stomach is full. This explains why dogs that gulp down their food will still be hungry even though their caloric requirements have been met or exceeded. This is also why some dogs experience weight problems.
(1) Borborygmi: Gas sounds in the small intestine during digestion due to too-rapid ingestion.
(2) Flatulence: Emission of often foul-smelling gas from bacterial fermentation in the colon due to too-rapid ingestion.
(3) Stomach dilation: Bloating due to air ingested with the meal.
